Resort Construction Managers are transitioning their name to their parent company, Layton Construction. You will see this name change on all media and marketing materials for the resort. It is the same company and team that have built Koloa Landing from the paper up. Layton Construction's expertise, history, vision and partnership will ensure success at Koloa Landing. Shaun Keep, Vice President of Layton Construction stated, "With delivery of the first 85 residences expected to start in the fall we have a strict schedule that we adhere to and our local sub-contractors have worked diligently alongside us to deliver the newest resort on the south shore of the island in several years."

PROJECT UPDATE

Aloha Koloa Landing Homeowners,

We are pleased with the progress of construction and we are looking forward to completion of Phase One. Based on the pace of construction, it is anticipated that closings will begin in September. As we move closer to completion of Phase One we will provide you with a tighter schedule for the closing of your residence. Our goal is to make sure that you have plenty of time to make the necessary preparations for closing. You can expect that a member of our sales team will begin communicating directly with you in preparation for closing.

Recently, we announced Koloa Landing at Poipu Beach as a Wyndham Grand Resort. We are very excited to be part of Wyndham's Grand Collection. We feel that this compliments the project very well, ensuring that the property will be maintained at a very high standard. With the help of our resort operator, Azul Hawaii Resorts, the amenities and public spaces of the project are being enhanced. All of this is to provide homeowners and guests a first class experience. Additionally, homeowners who wish may utilize Wyndham's Worldwide Reservation and Marketing system for the rental of their residences.

We look forward to delivering your island home with quality craftsmanship and the world-class service that Azul and Wyndham Grand will add to Koloa Landing. We wish you a very warm and pleasant Fourth of July Holiday.

Sincerely,

Poipu Beach Villas, LLC

WAHI NOHO - Our Island Community

Historic and picturesque, the Koloa district spans from Old Koloa Town to Kauai's world famous Poipu Beach. Kauai has strong cultural roots and rich history, especially the South Shore. Old Koloa Town has a fascinating History Center that follows the history of the town and the region's old plantations through artifacts, documents, and photographs. The entire town is actually a living history museum, as Koloa Town boasts some of the oldest buildings in the state.

During the mid 1800's whaling outstripped all other commercial activities in the Pacific. And Hawai'i was the principal base for this industry, primarily Honolulu and Lahaina. On Kauai, a bit south of Old Koloa town is Koloa Landing, once the port of entry for the entire island and a major port for the Yankee Pacific whaling fleet. The landing at Old Koloa Town is where some of the 200 whaling ships would stop for repairs and to replenish supplies with fresh fruits, meat, and water while on island. For Hawai'i, the whaling boom was soon replaced by profits in the sugar industry.

Koloa opened Hawaii's first sugar mill in 1835 and set the precedent for commercial sugar production across the islands. King Kamehameha III leased the plantation land to Duncan McBryde. He formed the McBryde Sugar Company and was an original member of the board of what is now the Kauai Coffee Company.

The sugar era opened the door to a wave of immigrants that make up Hawaii's multicultural population today. The many ethnic groups that came to Hawaii to work on sugar plantations, and the Hawaiians who welcomed them, will be celebrated through music, dance, costumes, and food throughout the Koloa Plantation Days. This nine-day festival celebrates Hawaii's Cultural Heritage. Culture, traditions, crafts, and music are the foundation of Hawaii. "Sweet Memories" is the theme of Koloa Plantation Days 2010 being held on Kauai's south shore from July 17 through July 25. Koloa Plantation Days also celebrates the present-day vitality of Koloa and Poipu, a major visitor destination on Kauai.

Today, Kauai is a global gathering place for visitors to share in the spirit of aloha. Beyond the sun and surf of the Poipu Beach, there is the rich cultural history of Kauai for you to discover that will add even more depth to your time on island.
